Care Guide

Elisabeth Schotte aims to bring beauty into our daily lives. We believe that fine jewelry should be worn and enjoyed on a frequent basis.

To maintain longevity:

Treat your jewelry with care and avoid engaging in manual labor or hand intensive chores, which exposes your jewelry to knocks and scratches. Remove your jewellery before bed, showering and washing your hands. Avoid exposing your jewellery to perfume, hair products and cosmetics. Take your jewelry off while cleaning the house or using harsh chemicals. Store your pieces separately to avoid scratching. Consider your jewellery the finishing touch, let it be the last thing you put on when getting ready to avoid chemicals found in beauty products.

How to clean and maintain:

Jewelry can become tarnished from daily wear and oxidants in the air. In order to restore luster and shine we recommend a soft polishing cloth. Do not use tissue or paper towels, they can cause scratches because of fibers in these products. Cleaning jewelry regularly can keep it looking good, but be careful. You may also use soap, warm water and a soft brush or cloth to remove skin oils, dirt or makeup. Make sure the brush is very soft when used on metal, especially gold, which can be scratched easily.

Store your jewelry safely and prevent pieces from moving around especially while traveling. Do not store your jewelry inside leather, as this may tarnish the metal. To maintain the luster of your jewelry, you can place a silver anti-tarnish strip in your jewelry box to absorb the oxidants that discolor and tarnish jewelry.
